Google Search Console verification and sitemap submission

Updated: 2026-09-11

Google Search Console shows which search queries bring guests to your site — how many times it appeared, how many people clicked, and at what position. Before you see that data, Google needs to confirm the site is actually yours.

Requirement

This feature applies to a custom domain (e.g. www.myapartment.pl) — see Custom domain. Without a custom domain, your page at your-name.erphome.pl can also be added to Search Console, but erphome.pl owns that domain in Google's eyes.

Step 1 — add a property in Search Console

Go to search.google.com/search-console and add a new "URL prefix" property with your domain's address (e.g. https://www.myapartment.pl).

Google will offer a few verification methods. Choose "HTML tag" — it shows a code snippet to paste, in this form:

<meta name="google-site-verification" content="AbCdEf12345..." />

Step 2 — paste the code in the erphome.pl panel

Go to My account → Custom domain and scroll to the "Google Search Console verification" section. You can paste just the code from the content="…" attribute, or the whole tag — the panel extracts the code for you. Click "Save domain".

The tag is now added to your page automatically — you don't need to edit any code yourself.

Step 3 — confirm in Search Console

Go back to Search Console and click "Verify". If your domain is already active (DNS points to the platform — see Custom domain), verification passes immediately.

Step 4 — submit your sitemap

In the same panel section, you'll see a ready-made sitemap address, e.g.:

https://www.myapartment.pl/sitemap.xml

Paste it into Search Console under "Sitemaps" (left menu).

Why this helps

  • Google immediately gets a full list of your pages — apartments, blog posts, subpages — instead of waiting to discover them by following links.
  • New content (a new apartment, a new blog post) gets indexed faster.
  • The sitemap updates itself after every change — you never resubmit it.
  • Search Console immediately flags any indexing errors it finds on a page.

What you'll see in Search Console after verifying

The "Performance" report shows how many times your page appeared in search results (impressions), how many people clicked (clicks), which queries brought guests, and the average position. This is search data — different from the visits Google Analytics counts (see Privacy & cookies).
